What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a disease that makes your bones weak and prone to fractures. It creates tiny holes in bone tissue that worsen over time.

Healthy bones constantly break down old tissue and build new bone in a balanced cycle. With osteoporosis, this process becomes disconnected. Why does osteoporosis develop?
